Reggio Emilia Approach

At Yalla, the Reggio Emilia philosophy is one of the core foundations of our work with young children. Rooted in the belief that every child is capable, curious, and rich in potential, Reggio Emilia invites children to learn through exploration, inquiry, and relationships. Rather than limiting learning to worksheets or pre-determined outcomes, the Reggio approach views the environment as a “third teacher,” values hands-on sensory experiences, and celebrates the hundred languages of children—the many ways they express ideas, emotions, and understanding.

We chose to build Yalla’s programming on Reggio principles because they align deeply with our mission: to honor each child as an active participant in their own learning journey and to create a community where curiosity, creativity, and belonging flourish. Reggio supports children in developing critical thinking, collaboration skills, emotional resilience, and a strong sense of identity—all qualities that matter profoundly in the early years. It also honors family partnership and transparency, which is central to how Yalla operates as a community-driven program.

In practice, this means you’ll see intentional environments, open-ended materials, responsive teaching, rich documentation, and curriculum emerging from children’s interests. By grounding our work in Reggio Emilia, Yalla offers deeply meaningful, developmentally sound experiences that allow children to feel known, trusted, and inspired every day.
